Changing the World…One Mile at a Time.
We are fans. We know the passion and enthusiasm that fanatical obsession creates. We also recognize the need to take care of ourselves at both the personal and collective levels and believe the worlds we enjoy through our fandom do not have to be the stuff of fiction. We believe a better world is possible.
Fanthropy is the intersection of fandom and philanthropy.
Applying the fanthropy concept to fitness, we have our Fanthropy Running Clubs. These are communities based on “fan domains” or “fandoms”, who participate in organized “virtual running” events to inspire people to be more physically active and support non-profits focused on a variety of charitable efforts.
Each virtual run celebrates an aspect of that fandom, where participants receive a custom-designed finisher’s medal for their fitness effort, and the charity partner for that event receives donations from the proceeds.
Fanthropy Running Clubs currently has four charitable fandom communities.
What’s a “virtual run”?
A virtual run, also known as a virtual race, is an event that can be run in any location, at any time, at any pace. You can walk, jog, or run; use the treadmill, hit the road, sidewalk, or trail; you can even participate in another “real-world” race. It’s completely up to you!
